Erembodegem, February 3rd 2009 Digital platform for export companies launchedFrom now on export companies can request certificates of origin electronically via DigiChambers. That is the brand new digital platform that was launched by the Chambers of Commerce on the 27th January 2009 in the presence of Vincent van Quickenborne, Minister for Enterprise and Simplification. The DigiChambers platform is an essential step in simplifying the issuance of export documents. The project was realised in co-operation with the Federal Public Service Economy and the Agency for Administrative Simplification. Digital identity card for goodsThe certificate of origin, which is a kind of "digital identity card" for goods, is an important export document. It is obligatory for exporting goods to, amongst other places, the Middle East, Russia and other countries of the former Soviet Union. As from now exporters can simply request a certificate of origin via www.digichambers.be and make a print-out without leaving their desks. As such, they no longer need to go to the local office of the Chamber of Commerce, which saves them a lot of time and money. A Deloitte research study revealed that cost-savings can add up to as much as € 50 per certificate of origin. Moreover, it's environmentally friendly. Exclusive promotion for DigiChamber usersIn order to safeguard the online exchange of information, DigiChambers makes use of digital certificates. To support this new initiative in simplifying administration, Certipost temporarily offers exclusively to DigiChambers users a special discount on its digital certificates.
