More and more Belgacom customers switch to electronic bill
More and more Belgacom customers are switching to ’Bill Online’, the electronic bill offered by Belgacom in association with Certipost.
Residential customers
Since May 2004, Belgacom residential customers have been able to opt to receive their bills electronically instead of in paper format. Powered by a co-operative venture with Certipost, this service is completely secure and even free of charge. Every month Belgacom sends approximately 2 million bills to its customers; with Bill Online the company hopes to reduce paper consumption and thereby help protect the environment.
Today approximately 23,000 customers have already signed up on their own initiative, persuaded of the advantages of ’Bill Online’:

- The ability to view detailed information on both already billed and not-yet-billed calls: the number dialled, date, duration and cost per call
- Additional details are available: the name of callers (link to the White Pages), except for unlisted numbers
- No more paper bill: Certipost provides you with a -* myCertipost mailbox to which your secure electronic bill is sent; you are informed that your bill has arrived via an ordinary e-mail
- Downloading, printing, and archiving of bills (plus detailed information on billed calls)
- Monthly bill option enables you to better control your telephone expenditure
- Direct-debit option, so that you know your bill will be paid on time
- Decreased paper consumption, which is good for the environment
’Bill Viewer’ has been well-established for a number of years already and currently has some 300,000 registered users, half of whom regularly consult their bill free-of-charge via the Internet. Users continue to receive a paper version of their bill. Customers who register for ’Bill Online’ by 15 January 2005 will receive 100 free minutes of calling time (during off-peak hours; calls to Telenet, Internet and special numbers not included).
