History of Certipost

Some major milestones

  • In 2002, the Belgian Post Group (BPG) and Belgacom decide to merge their Internet services. Under the name of Certipost they set up a 50/50 joint venture which specialises in secure electronic document exchange, e-Government applications and other Internet services. Belgacom contributes the E-Trust Certification Authority services for the creation and management of digital certificates. The BPG contributes its Postbox platform, subsequently renamed myCertipost. E-business specialist Aditel, which was acquired by BPG e-Services in September 2002, is integrated into the new company.
  • In 2003, Certipost receives the ICT Winner Award in the category “Best Practice in the Back Office” for its e-project at VCST Industrial Products, a renowned supplier in the motor vehicle industry.

  • In October 2004, Certipost takes over the activities of Info2Clear-SecureAttachment, a specialist in digital rights management.
  • In 2005, Certipost launches the CertiONE consolidated electronic sorting centre. It features an open platform which brings together the customers and functions of the three existing vertical platforms (CertiBusiness.Net, JCommerceRetail and myCertipost) into one centralised environment.
  • In 2006, Certipost obtains the ISO9001:2000 certificate, endorsing its high degree of quality management.
  • In 2007, Certipost launches the e-Signing service which facilitates the signing of electronic documents.
  • At the start of 2008, Certipost becomes a full subsidiary of the BPG. The company grows exponentially and crosses the threshold of 500,000 private individuals and 50,000 business customers on its platform. In the Netherlands, Certipost’s e-Invoicing project at Sanoma Uitgevers wins the ‘Gouden Factuur 2008’ award (‘Golden Invoice 2008’).
  • In 2009, Certipost introduces the ‘e-Contracting’ service for signing, sending and archiving contracts by electronic way. The continuous efforts of Certipost to ensure information security and high-quality services are rewarded with the renewed ISO 9001:2008 certificate and the SAS 70 Type II attestation.
  • In 2010, Gert Roeckx assumes his role as the new CEO of Certipost.
